Where to go for WINE issues?

I have an app trying to setup that controls my
CD storage carousel. The vendor claims to have an
app for Ubuntu Linux, but I think it’s a dead project
since all of the libs it requires are archaic. So
trying to run the Windows app under wine. Installed
perfectly and seems to run but it cannot communicate
with the carousels…they are attached via USB.
I haven’t been able to locate and reference material on
the current state of USB and WINE, most things I have found
are a year old…but they don’t offer much hope that I
am going to get this to work.

Well VMware Server supports USB as well as VirtualBox non-OSE version.

If you have a Win2k/XP license hanging around you could try those solutions.

Not an option really…trying to rid myself of Windows.
I do the VMware thing at work, but I have such very small requirements
at home. If the vendor ACTUALLY supported Linux instead
of the token lip service like so many, this wouldn’t be an issue.
Oh well, I’ll keep hacking surely I’ll figure something out.

I’d try asking on the WINE forum.

Thanks. For some reason was having trouble locating
it last night.
