I require the libpng3 package as it is a dependency for something else, but I cannot find it in any suse repo?
Apparently it was available form repo in opensuse 11 and in “Evergreen”, but I get no results in the opensuse software search or in Yast.
I have found a site which has an RPM for this but I don’t know whether to trust it (I don’t really know what I’m doing inspecting an RPM package). I would really prefer a repository for this as updates etc. will be handled.
Could I just do a symbolic link to the current libpng library? I have 3 versions installed… (12, 15 and 17 - all part of default opensuse install if I’m not mistaken).
I don’t want to break anything
I have found that libpng3 compatibility package is still maintained in the *buntu repos - so if I downlaod the source package I might be able to rip out what I need… a lot of effort for something highly non-essential though.
Seems it is no longer getting updates from the maintainers too - so it might be better to just leave this deprecated package alone and wait for “the world” (or one developer in particular) to catch up.
