Where is the compiler?

I’ve just installed SUSE and got a cool program to run on it but it requires me to use “make”.

When I run it it says “No C Compiler”.

Simple question where is it??

install gcc

Ok dumb question #2:

How?

go to YaST -> Software Management and search for gcc

If I type in yast in the search I only get this:

YaST - openSUSE

No sign of a “software management” option

HELLPPP!!!

NOT YaST on the website, YaST program on your own system

In KDE4 menu -> System -> YaST

Ive got GNOME how do I find it?

Oh yes, and thank you for your patience

dig around in the GNOME menu, it should be there somewhere. I’m not a GNOME user so don’t know where they put it

if you can’t find it then hit ALT+F2 and type “gnomesu yast2” (without the quotes) then enter your root password

alternatively, open a console, login as root with “su” and type “yast2” (all without the quotes)

Wow! Is there anything you don’t know??

I’m very grateful, thank you

I know a lot, but not everything

Hope that’ll get you started :stuck_out_tongue:

> Wow! Is there anything you don’t know??

it is just extremely basic stuff…

and, i wonder what the cool program you found that needs to be compiled??

MOST of the extremely cool programs are already available via YaST and
do NOT need to be compiled…search yast for it!!
