where is POP3 from the xinet.d in the opensuse11.3 ?

opensuse11.3 (used as server)
Postfix received mail to the files:
/var/spool/mail/user1

/var/spool/mail/user2

How configure this opensuses server for:

  1. users can read over POP3 from XP this received mails.
  2. when user read mail from server over POP3 - in the server this mail mast deleted(this can do with mail-client: TheBat , but what about pop3-server ?? )…

Have you tried to search with YaST > Software > Software manager with “pop3”. I (on 11.2) find at least three different POP3 servers on OSS and Packman repos.

Maybe other here can advice you what a good choice might be.

I found = courier pop3
But im dont understand how rconfigure postfix and courier for coexist…

You need to read a lot of documents, you can not hope to administer a linux
machine without reading docs >:-)

Hint: /usr/share/doc/packages/*

Hopefully, yast should be able to install one without much problems.

The simplest pop3/imap server you could install was wu-imap, but as it is
no longer maintained and/or some devs think it is crap, they no longer
include it in the distro.

Me, I use dovecot.
