Where is Milestone 6?

No Milestone 6 out yet, event not on download.opensuse.org. :frowning:
When will it be released?

It has been delayed. The installers are broken
If you must add the factory repo
download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss
and do a zypper dup and you should get milestone 6
but the official release won’t be announced until later
Re: [opensuse-factory] status distribution

From the lists:

OK, Jiri fixed the live installer and I only rebuild the live cds. The DVDs
were tested by Max shortly by me, so I can spend tomorrow to upload to the
mirrors, so it’s all fine on monday.

I’m still getting this error:
Failed to download /content from
http://download.opensuse.org/debug/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/
and
Failed to download /content from
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/
and
Failed to download /content from
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss/

If I then remove them and rely solely on the factory repos and try and
install updates I get messages such as:
Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: package
gtkhtml2-3.27.5-1.1.i586 is not installed
and
Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: db4 error(-30987) from

etc.

I suspect the best I can do is wait for the DVD and try and update this
system from that.

Try these commands as root
rpmdb --rebuilddb
then
zypper dup

factory/repo != distribution/11.2/repo - and ‘export ZYPP_ARIAC2=0’ can help you temporarily.

Okay so the live CDs should be available tomorrow?

In a milestone 6 directory? Monday. But there is a high chance that they will be identical to Factory Live-CD builds#235.

The live cd’s can be found here Index of /factory/iso

build 0233 is milestone 6 but the live installer is broken
build 0235 is hopefully ok I am downloading it now and I am hoping that it is the one that is fixed.

anyway you can have a look see cause everything else is working besides the live installer

Wrong for Live-CDs, don’t cook up stuff.

openSUSE-KDE4-LiveCD-i686-Build0233-Media.iso is milestone 6 with a bad live installer

openSUSE-KDE4-LiveCD-i686-Build0235-Media.iso

is milestone 6 with a working live installer

Beiner did you download these iso’s and check them out or did you use your Ouija board

It doesn’t become more correct when you repeat it.

Likely it will be unless something changes until Monday.

Yes, yes (fine except 2nd stage runs in text mode), no.

I installed the 0235 build and it worked fine for me.

Like Beineri said, the second stage ran in text mode.

Nice Milestone.

The milestone 6 is here, dig in

Has the repos changed sense MS 5? Zypper dup only sees this

vendion@SEServer:~> sudo zypper dup

The following package is going to be downgraded:
  enigmail

The following package is going to change vendor:
enigmail openSUSE Build Service -> openSUSE

8 packages to upgrade, 1 to downgrade, 1 to change vendor.
Overall download size: 72.7 MiB. After the operation, 3.0 KiB will be freed.
Continue? [y/n/?] (y):

I don’t think that adds up to a Milestone release :sarcastic:

I recommend for you to add factory/oss/ from the repo i gave above since it gets all the packages first i guess and you can always get redirected to a server that doesn’t fetch the updated packages etc.

I also had the issue of getting no updates at all while i remembered that quite many updates were published at least once a week so i changed my factory/oss from download.opensuse.org (from there it redirects you to nearest local server? ) to http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/factory/repo/

You’d have to search for a better mirror (local in USA) and not rely on suse to redirect You.

Will do, the only good thing about using the redirector is you have a higher chance of getting a closer mirror and there for possibly faster downloads.

I’ll see if some were added last time I looked I couldn’t find a reliable one here in the USA

and here on the main distro
