Reading this: SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE
I did zypper in imagewriter,

Nothing to do.

Hello colao,

Strange, the imagewriter package should be in the default repository of openSUSE.
Which version of openSUSE do you use?

And could you post the output of this command:

zypper lr -d

Good luck!

Imagewriter is available in your forth repo.
The only difference with openSUSE 11.3 is that the package is called kiwi-tools-imagewriter.

Good luck!

It’s openSUSE 11.2 and the package name is kiwi-tools-imagewriter.

Hi, newbie here,

thanks for this post, knowing the correct name helped quite a bit.

I’m trying to make a live usb from opensuse 11.3 64bits on my 11.2 machine, followed instructions about the imagewriter and installed the kiwi-tools-imagewriter as listed above.
I cannot however seem to find the kiwi or a differently named imagewriter in the place where step 4 tells me to look: *4. Launch SUSE Studio Image Writer (It’s located in the application menu under Utilities, Archiving, USB Key Writer) *
response from konsole:
zypper install kiwi-tools-imagewriter

Hello lennart_duitscher and welcome to the community!

You’ve got the right package installed.
But why the program isn’t in the menu, I don’t know.

Anyway, you can run the program by starting a terminal and running this command:

imagewriter

Good luck!

Hi
The one you have is the command line and it’s called imagewriter. This version doesn’t add a menu entry.

Press alt+F2 and enter;

kdesu imagewriter

Else download the SUSEStudio version here for your arch
