Anybody know what has happened to Linux Counter? Also when it might be back?
Is this an MS plot to prove that no-one uses Linux?

While I love a good conspiracy theory I doubt that it’s anything quite so drastic as that. Could be the mouse on the tread mill that runs the server died
A Google on the site returned the words “Database error” in Google’s snapshot. Simple enough explanation.
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Lost connection to
MySQL server during query in /home/counter/counter/phpinc/database.php

The Linux Counter has database problems Please try again
later.
If the problem persists, drop an email to
webmaster@counter.li.org - they are probably already working on it.

I doubt that. As lookuing at Linux® International | Linux International is an End-User Organization it seems that the site is undergoing a chnage.
Meanwhile even the DNS-Records are gone:
> host counter.li.org
Host counter.li.org not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
> host Linux® International | Linux International is an End-User Organization
Linux® International | Linux International is an End-User Organization is an alias for li.org.
li.org has address 64.71.163.205
li.org mail is handled by 10 li.org.
li.org mail is handled by 15 alt.org.

Hmm, it’s worse than that, that li.org web page news is from 2006 and it looks like it hasn’t been updated since then.
It’s up again now!
the database server’s power supply went AWOL. Took me a couple of weeks to find time to configure the replacement.
(btw, li.org and counter.li.org are independent, except that the counter borrows the domain name.)
Harald
And while we’re at it, where have all the flowers gone?
(Long time passing)
…and unfortunately the server is down again. To be more clear: the front-end server is down.
When I spoke to Harald yesterday he said he’d check it out when he was time, and as we all know, Harald is a busy man!
