Hi
It’s not available until the release date…
Hi,
According to the development schedule:
openSUSE:Roadmap - openSUSE
openSUSE 11.4 “Goldmaster” should have been released today?
Jesse
None of the Milestones and RC were released on the date scheduled!

Look at the next line down where it shows ‘Public Release’.
Good luck.

it is NOT released to the public until the Public Release date, on
Mar 10 2011…
if you are one of the FEW who have been part of the hacking, testing
and packing program you would have already been told how to get it today…

If my memory serves me correct, in previous releases, there has usually been
some comment on the web-page that the “Goldmaster” was not for public
consumption. Pity there was no such comment on the web-page that Jesse
referred to - unless it is to be released tomorrow, say?

The final Gold Master is sent to the printers to mass produce the DVDs. These DVDs are included in the boxed sets for purchase.

That was cruel …
Nope it’s not.

Can you give us mortals a quick “known issues” list from that goldmaster? I’m sure not all bugs got resolved… That may save some time for us all on Mar 10/11…?
I loose splash during the installer loading basic drivers (that on a machine that Never falters) But it restores back suddenly to
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10573557/11.4_Install/3_language.jpg
The machine in question has Vista and Tumbleweed and only Vista is picked up, but this is usual, I find the installer rarely picks up other Linux installs. But I didn’t edit at install. Not a big issue for me.
*I installed kde and then gnome, each a clean install, formatting all it’s assigned partitions.
The Gnome install ( I forgot to check in kde ) has a blank icon issue (This is known and fix is due post release), if you install Thunderbird you’ll see what I mean. RC2 users can see this too.
Otherwise it’s very smooth and quick. Multimedia installed without a hitch.
Though I should emphasise - this laptop (R61) works perfectly with everything I throw at it.
N.B. I ran the RC2 Gnome CD on my box with a Nvidia card in and the boot splash during the load of the live system was garbled, but it arrived at the desktop and worked perfectly. Currently waiting for my _64 download to complete so I can install there and on my G550
Did you use the new Packman repos for the multimedia? Are those working OK now with the new layout/naming, etc.?
Though I should emphasise - this laptop (R61) works perfectly with everything I throw at it.
I read somewhere that they would include KDEPIM 4.6 as an option or you can pick KDEPIM 4.4 (the more stable version). Which one did you try? Do you think KDEPIM 4.6 is stable enough or is it for “play” only at this time?
Yes the new repo from Packman, all inclusive top level.
I don’t use kdepim
