Where can I find a tutorial on installing a custom Android rom?

I have a MyTouch3G that’s still running v1.6 of Android. I’ve wanted to re-flash the thing so I can run Open Eclair (Android 2.1) on the thing. Is there a step-by-step tutorial on getting the ROM on the mt3g? I’m new to this whole arena…

Thanks

i’m not at all sure why you ask here friend…for a couple of friendly
reasons:

one, this is not a help forum, instead this one is "General Chit-Chat

  • A friendly place to converse about your adventures with openSUSE,
your weekend, your boss, your new car, and generally stuff that
doesn’t fit somewhere else (and we must ask: PLEASE do not post help
    questions here)"

and second, as far as i recall Android is not a product of the
openSUSE community so your question is just out of place here…

if i had your questions i think i’d begin by using Google to find a
friendly forum where Android-heads hang out…

-good luck- with that wish to upgrade your phone–my best advice is to
READ CAREFULLY about how easy it might be to turn your phone into a
door stop…that is, maybe make it totally useless (as a
phone)…what i’m saying is: make SURE you are getting info from
someone who knows what they are talking about (not just any old
run-of-the-mill openSUSE guru!)

I did not mean to post in the wrong spot. I figured since this was just a “General” chat area that maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

I also asked here because I assumed Linux/OpenSUSE users were generally more technical inclined. Therefore, they could probably help me better.

I’ve been pouring over Google and to my surprise, no one has posted clear-cut simple instructions on this. It’s very confusing :frowning:

Seeming as I got told of for saying google not sure why you’re having problems pretty much first hit got me to this…

Root a T-Mobile myTouch 3G or G1 in 6 minutes and flash Cyanogen’s rom with Donut crumbs – Android and Me

Google that found it

flashing MyTouch3G - Google Search

Yes, I’ve read that. But the guide is quite outdated. I was looking for something more current. I figured the whole “rooting” process has changed significantly. (The article is from Aug. 2009)

I doubt the method has changed in little over 6 mths probably the software, but the page says that any way and gives step by step instructions. I really doubt you’ll get new destructions anything that needs to be related will be on the rom page referenced. i.e
CyanogenMod Wiki

Any way I step out now I don’t wish to be further involved in a thread that has the potential of turning a phone into brick.

why your re-flashing you can just updated it solve na
