I have need to install Linux on an old 32 bit machine, that will not be used online, I need to connect it to an old PCI card that doesn’t want to work in with any of my 64 bit machines.
However I can’t find the install ISOs anywhere can someone point me to them please?
Things to note : Yes I realize they will be for an old release, Yes I realize I won’t get updates for them I just need to be able to install on this old system.
I set the tag to leap-153-eol as there wasn’t something more appropriate.
I would strongly recommend against using an old version of Leap, as there are zero patches for any security issues that have come up since then. The last release of Leap that supported 32-bit (i586) was 13.2, released in 2014. It was end of life in January of 2017, so you’d be 8 years past any security patches and updates.
Broadly speaking (and very much oversimplified), Tumbleweed is upstream from SUSE Linux Enterprise, and Leap is downstream; SUSE dropped 32-bit from the enterprise versions, so there’s no upstream for Leap to derive a 32-bit build from.
If the hardware isn’t too old, you should be good to go with TW. There are some specific CPU features that are required for it, as I recall - but I haven’t found where that was spelled out. But if you grab a live ISO and try it out and it works, then you should be good to go.
