When will updates stop?

Hello.

I have downloaded a 11.1 distro.

In the future, when 11.2 cames out, will my system automatically update itself to 11.2, or will I have to format the HDD and reinstall everything from scratch?

For how long will openSUSE 11.1 auto-update itself freely?

No, version upgrades are not automatic. You will stay on 11.1. If you want to upgrade to 11.2 you will have to do it yourself. 11.1 will be supported for 2 years from release so up to around end of 2010,
