Seems that I will have to keep Plasma 5.5… fcitx-qt5 has no corresponding update and if I update to Plasma 5.6, I can’t use fcitx anymore.

I was able to modify the Slim Glow theme and get the panel resize icon markers to work properly. The problem is that the original theme did not have a [size=2]containment-controls.svgz file. I guess that worked under KDE 4.x by using some kind of defaults instead. In any event, I found that if I copied the [size=1][FONT=verdana][size=2]containment-controls.svgz file from another theme then the icon markers appeared properly and worked. I ended up copying the [size=1][FONT=verdana][size=2]containment-controls.svgz file from another dark theme named “Neon Glow by FRUit” and now it works great. For anyone interested, I repackaged the Slim Glow theme with this fix included and which can be downloaded from here:
