I recently installed openSUSE 11 on two computers. One with a broadcom based card and one with an Intel card. The Intel one could detect wireless networks as I expected, and the broadcom based one could do the same after installing the firmware. But no matter what I did it would not connect with WPA-PSK! It connects fine with unencryted on both, but I really don’t want to keep it that way. Is it because of the new network manager (0.7) which isn’t even beta yet (correct me if I’m wrong) and the KNetworkmanager frontend isn’t even finished yet! I even tried connecting a wire to my laptop and did absolutely nothing! Why oh why is such a undeveloped program included in a gold release? I really want to use openSUSE but if I don’t have any internet it’s pretty useless…
If its any consolation, my wife, a BIG WinXP fan if there EVER was one, some times gets really annoyed with her OS of choice (winXP), and says the same thing about WinXP wireless drivers. :rolleyes:
You can try installing the gnome frontend (will pull in some gnome deps) and try using that, it’s most likely better than the kde4 frontend
Is there any other program I can use other than network manager? I would prefer if there was Wicd (this would be best), Wifi-radar or Wlassistant included…are they available in the repos?
Which Intel card do you have? I tried out the KDE live cd last night (haven’t had time to do the install yet), and my Intel 3945 was able to connect to my WPA-PSK configured wireless router quite easily using Network Manager.

I have been able to connect using WPA-PSK on an Intel card using the
IP2200 chipset/drivers under KDE4 both using the 11 RC1 KDE4 release and
the 11GM release. What is happening, is it getting hung up on somewhere?
I managed to get temporary internet access with Knetworkmanager. I didn’t want to take any chances so I immediately installed Wicd. Now it’s up and running on here fine 
Now to get it working on my other computer…

Just installed OpenSuse 11. However, the network manager does not seem to support WPA-EAP protocol. Can someone please let me know how to go about it?
I have an Intel Pro /Wireless 4965 AG card and the wireless works fine with Vista (this is a dual-boot machine)
