What's the root password?!

Hi!

Just installed OpenSUSE Leap 42.2. It never asked me what the root password should be during the installation, only for the name and password of the regular user.

Now if I try to start e.g. Yast, it asks for a root password. But what IS the root password?

If I say e.g. “sudo su” or “su -”, it also asks for the root password, so I’m not much farther with that…

In the default install the root password is the same as that of the first user you were asked for, unless YOU changed it by unsetting a checkbox during that phase in the installer.

And please be aware that Leap 42.2 (repeat, 42.TWO) is currently in Alpha test, so maybe you are using 42.1?
