No

But disable online repos and make a local source of the DVD may help.

in using local source of dvd the drive is always occupied coz currently i m using dvd as local source !!
else yast is the best feature i agree !!

You can use the original .iso as the DVD source or copy the DVD to a .iso and point to that. Leaves the DVD drive free

Not necessarily. You can use an ISO of the DVD, or copy the directories
to a local drive and use that as a repo. There are plenty of options
that don’t involve a physical DVD.

Personally, I’d say the community. But I’m biased.

  1. YaST
  2. Open SuSE’s unparalleled KDE implementation.
  3. These forums.

Gotta think what does openSUSE have that other distributions don’t, or what does it implement differently.

Overall, openSUSE looks good and feels pretty solid lately. I have found many of the applications I hear about in the OBS. SUSE Studio is pretty neat. I do like the longer-than-6-month-release-cycle.

I do like how openSUSE is a little more open-minded about things such as Mono than I find in some distributions.

Otherwise, Yast is the short answer. That, and openSUSE is fairly up-to-date.

Yes. And if you try kde4.8 you will really understand that!

Yast, forums.opensuse.org and ’ the green identity’.

yes i feels like dumb y this didn’t hit me, that i can make an iso file
thanks for solution !!lol!

that is easy: me!

(then YaST, no malware, stability…)

check what they say about me at http://tinyurl.com/SUSEonDW

Other than the stuff you guys have listed such as YasT and security etc, my absolute favourite feature of openSUSE is Gnome 3. It’s so nice and complete on the distro, and I’m still massively enjoying using it. Sad that a great many are still denying its existence and attempting to recreate Gnome 2 rather than embracing the new, but I think they’ll eventually come to Gnome 3 and love it.

I can’t say I’ve ever had a pleasant experience
with KDE outside of SuSE. Perhaps, ironically, on SuSE I don’t use anything
else.

Me.
