There’s something wrong with my updates. I keep on updating but this security patch won’t go through after upgrading to 11.1
(The patch information is located below.)
The thing that happens is when I try to update, it makes an error that says:
Installation of Package failed
and when I click show details it says:
Yes, just “—”.
I click Retry or Ignore or abort and YAST quits. There was also this update that keeps doing this on another computer but that was way back on version 10.0
What’s wrong with this? I never touched the Repositories since installation? (Maybe I should?)
In addition, and this is just a minor thing… why can’t the slideshow wallpaper be random like in Mandriva? Does it always have to start with the wallpaper #1 on startup? Okay, it’s not really minor, I do mind the presentation of my desktop :shame:

open a terminal and go su and do:
zypper lu
You said you upgraded. From what version and how did you do it?
I’m sorry, I said it wrong. I did upgrade, but it was the Kernel… I was already in SuSE 11.1 when I did it.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will try this next time I get on the computer.
Any more solutions please keep them coming.
Please post the output of
zypper lu

Has this resolved your issue?
Not yet I guess, I opened YAST and on these sections:
Software
Online Update
Filter: Patches
Summary: Security → udev: fixed local privilege Escalation
(under “udev: fixed local privilege Escalation” are two items: )
- libvolume_id1 - Dynamic library, which contains functions to get volume ids
- udev - A Rule-Based Device Node and Kernel Event Manager
I click Accept and the same error (from the original post) happens.
I thought it’ll fix it but oh well
I can look at it further (maybe try shutting it down and restart?) but right now it’s 12:31 AM Pacific time and I have work tomorrow, please send me more suggestions and I’ll be happy to try it next morning.
