What with all the daily updates!! of the same programs

Past 4 days have had a never ending repeated requests to update the same files over and over again. I use to get security and recommended updates once a week at most. Now I am getting insistance that I install new updates to digicam, kwave, amorok, vlc, digicam-documentaion, digicam-language and 41 to 81 others about every 2 hours. Like I choose install updates which takes 2 hours to complete when updates=81 or 1/2 hour when updates=41 then I check to see that nothing is broken in updated apps and about an hour or 2 after I complete my checks I again get message new updates are available for these same apps.

I have switched to packman as my repository using zypher dup <packman-url> but did not deactivate opensuse/oss/update/non-oss or the kde-desktop & kde-extra … is that my issue? one repo is making changes then another repo is changing things back?

Running “zypher dup packmanurl” would not work. You probably are thinking something like “zypper dup”, which is a method used for updating Tumbleweed.

The standard way to switch to packman is to run Yast ==> Software Management ==> View Repositories ==> Packman Repository ==> “Switch system packages to the versions in the Packman Repository”.

Maybe that process will resolve your current issue, but I’m not sure, just a suggestion.

(I also change the priority level for the Packman repo to 98 instead of the current 99 so as to permanently favour packman rpms, but I don’t think that’s widely used)

I have the same the last days, seems that kde-extra is the problem,
looks as if the repo rebuilds all the time.

PC: oS 13.2 x86_64 | i7-2600@3.40GHz | 16GB | KDE 4.14 | GTX 760
Yoga 2 Pro: oS 42.1 | x86_64 | i7-4500U@1.80GHz | 8GB | KDE 5.16
HTPC: oS 42.1 x86_64 | Celeron@1.8GHz | 2GB | Gnome 3.16 | HD 2500

changed priority of packman to 98
disabled kde-apps
disabled kde-extra

seams to have solved the problem but now get flashplayer conflicts in opensuse-update can i just remove flashplayer ? and install using opensuse version

Changing priority does not fix anything since vendor stickiness is still being used. Go into Yast and be sure ALL flash packages come from packman or ALL come from openSUSE mixing sources is the problem. When some package come from one place and other come from another it may work for a while if the versions numbers are the same but fails when one source changes and the other one does not. Priority is no longer important vendor stickiness is is what controls were a package gets updated from.

Hmmm… I better not rely on my 98 then. Good to know…

Priority is only needed for installing Programms, otherwise the Version will be choosed for installing…

deleted flashplayer and re-installed the opensuse version and all is well now
