What to do when system freezes out

Alright I have a issue, sometimes I have a total system freeze out and I know the old control+alt+backspace command is now disabled for some stupid reason in some distros.
I need a solution to getting out of a frozen session without hitting my restart button, its stupid to have to hard restart every time the system messes up.

You’ll have to press CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE twice with recent openSUSE releases.

Kind regards,
Andreas Stieger

And in case of total disaster, hold alt gr, print screen (sys rq), and then press;

R E I S U B

(easy to remember because it’s busier backwards)
Pressing each key for half a second or so, and leaving a couple of seconds between them. If the magic system request keys are enabled in the kernel (don’t know if they are in SUSE? Obviously doesn’t crash enough :)), it should cleanly reboot.

Thank you!

I was just unsure how the keycombo worked in opensuse.
I knew the old keycombo so well, but this recent trend of disabling ctrl+alt+backspace throws one off.
