What is the point of having voting banner?

Not against having the banner but, if It (voting software) doesn’t allow all forum members to vote then what is the point of having that big banner in the forums.

Hi
To remind the forum members who are also openSUSE members to
vote…

Apply for membership?

It’s not a question of being a forum member or not, it’s about membership
in the openSUSE project - and the project needs the word out for all
project members.

Members got a private email. But not all membership bother to vote…

The point is to reach and remind as many members as possible. Good, isn’t it.

I agree with the OP, why do I have to see this enormous intrusive banner when looking at the forum?

Click on the close button on the right and you don’t have to see it anymore…

The announcement should at least say to whom it is addressed.

I guess it is lure to get more members

I agree. Well spotted.

And not all members keep their e-mail addresses current.

Just a forwarder.

I actually do keep my address current, but I don’t seem to have received
the e-mail myself.

I got it on the email that the opensuse.org address is forwarded to, but
not to my opensuse.org address. Not where I would look.

You wouldn’t get it in a mailbox for opensuse.org - it’s just a forwarder

  • there is no mailbox.

I know, I don’t say that. I have one, I know how it works

Suppose that A@opensuse.org is forwarded to A@gmail.com.

Well, the notice has been sent directly to A@gmail.com, instead of
sending to A@opensuse.org as I would expect.
