What is the difference from global and plain text in new dolphin filter bar?

using dolphin I noted a new feature, the filter bar has options to filter.
I found here

something about, but I don’t get what global do and what plain text do and what rules apply regular expression.
could you say me something?

That text says “glob” and NOT “global”.

Maybe you better go for a search engine, or Wikipedia to find out what “gl;obbing” is and what “regular expressions” are. I hope you understand what “plain ext” is.

@pier_andreit:

Instead of “trusting” an Internet search, may I suggest the “man pages” … :smiling_imp:

 > LANG=C.UTF-8 man glob
Man: find all matching manual pages (export MAN_POSIXLY_CORRECT=1 to avoid this)
 * glob (n)
   glob (3)
   glob (3+3)
   glob (7)
   glob (3p)
Man: What manual page do you want?
Man:

“man 7 glob” is interesting:

       became a shell built-in.

       These days there is also a library routine glob(3) that will perform this function for a user program.

       The rules are as follows (POSIX.2, 3.13).

Something which could be concluded from this is, possibly, that the absolutely newest KDE Plasma version is using really ancient programming techniques to provide a wonderfully intuitive, modern, user experience …
