It sounds like a stupid question, but I still want to know what is the difference between desktop effect & compiz in KDE4? If I enable desktop effect from personal settings-desktop, system gives me some effect such as transparency. If I enable desktop-effect from SCCM, it gives me more complex effect such as desktop cube, however I lost the keyboard shortcut, such as switching between desktops. So is the complexity the only difference? Is compiz consuming more resource or there is rarely difference on this?
I know openSUSE 11 by default enables composite and uses Aiglx. So what if I enable both desktop effect from personal settings & compiz simultaneously?

me thinks that they are 2 different composite managers, kwin in kde4 has the
ability to do a lot of window affects on it’s own
However, unlike KWin, compiz (and compiz-fusion) are not KDE-only (I, for example, have GNOME, not KDE4 or even KDE 3.x, as my default). Also, compiz (and compiz-fusion) bring a lot more effects to the table than KWin does (even in KDE4).
I do not if this is necessary, but in order to still use the same desktop effect setting after a reboot, I must enable “desktop effects” from personal settings and enable desktop effect in SCCM together. So I guess there is some connection or relationship between them. I am using openSUSE 11 64bit.
