Hi Open Suse’s
Can you please tell me what the best modem is for open Suse? Some say an internal with a Lucent Chip others a serial. What’s the definitive answer please.
Cheers

I’m going to give a biased answer here, (because I own a laptop with this chipset): I recommend Conexant modem chipsets, because you can get drivers as rpm packages for openSUSE from Linuxant - Linux drivers for Conexant chipsets - Introduction
In general, external serial modems (proper hardware based modems) work quite well as they don’t require proprietary drivers to function.
I would recommand USB modems .
This product review endorsed an external usb 56k modem (made by Zoom Technologies) as compatible with openSUSE. Product info here.
