The current religious intolerance thread in the applications forum made me think → did we actually make it through a Gregorian calendar “Christmas/New Years” holiday season without a single question arising about the cute little penguins on boot up? lol!
PS - I liked the Penguins … if IIRC, it was even made an openfate request too (to implement a new version)… not sure if that ever went any where
While technically it wasn’t a question, however, that counts — it was an oversight on my part to have not phrased it as “any mention of the penguins” as opposed to have limited it to “questions about the penguins” lol!
I recently saw them. I downloaded the geckolinux iso (422.161213 bare-bones edition), and booted it on a legacy boot machine. And I was penguins. I think it is using “syslinux” to boot.
Could somebody make a Plymouth boot splash screen out of the penguins? That would be appreciated by many.

In Plymouth!!! Then that would virtually guarantee that we’d never see them ever again LOL
Just happened to start the Leap 42.2 install DVD on a legacy machine today and the penguins were up and walking…
Maybe EFI doesn’t love penguins like it doesn’t love most of us poor users apparently?

I have been seen them twice this year end (2016/2017) on two different PC’s (42.2).
I wonder (not sure(seen from my peripheral vision)) when I was in my my workshop and zypper dup my old 32-bit PC from 2002 and tumbleweed show the penguins but with an slightly different design at the reboot.
They are still there, but how often do you reboot a PC now on days ?
