I don’t see music visualization anymore(libvisual)? I liked the Suse 11.0 version WAY BETTER. What are they doing? going backwards? Can’t figure it out.
What version of SUSE and what version of Amarok
Suse 11.0/x32 kde. I have no idea what the version was, but it was the latest off the packman repo for suse 11.0/i586. Amarok looked way better, and had even more abilities besides visualization. Where is the visualization in the suse 11.3 version?
Are you refering to the differences of Amarok version 2.3 versus the old Amarok version 1?

did Amarok loose features during the switch from KDE3 to KDE4??

I don’t know if there is visualizations in amarok for kde4 yet
Yes, I did have kde3, and I now have kde4. That explains it.
Don’t worry, disgruntled Amarok fans made plenty of noise on the Amarok site when early versions 2.x appeared without their favourite features. Some are still “not there yet”.

i do not know how Amarok numbered their offering…i just guessed that
it lost capability (like most all apps did) when KDE moved from 3 to 4…
ah…i see the OP figured that out…

Version 2 was a complete rewrite for KDE4 with a radically new GUI, and some missing features like being able to play audio CD’s.

Missing?? From which version?? My oS 11.1 / KDE 3.5 / Amaarok 1.4.10
does that just fine.
Missing from Amarok version 2 through 2.3.0 as shipped with 11.3 / KDE 4.4.4, and 2.3.1 shipped elsewhere.

And some people still wonder why i say KDE 4.# still isn’t ready for
prime time.
They are right to wonder that since audio cd will play in KDE4’s Kaffeine, and SMPlayer, amongst others.
I had similar problems as well, including data base problems. I ended up recompiling the latest version of Amarok on my system and now all is OK.
Well, not all, for some reason Amarok using Gstreamer will not play flac files to the end. The file playback cuts off about 2 to 3 seconds before the end. MP3’s, OGG’s WAVES and even M4A’s play just fine.
