I’m running openSUSE 13.1 Gnome on my laptop and in the beginning I wanted to keep it as vanilla as possible and get familiar with Gnome’s work flow process. Now that I have been using it for a while, I started looking into what it was I wanted and find extensions that work.
I’ve only just begun, but I pulled out the extension Maximus Two, which hides the title bar of the window when it is maximized. I like this because otherwise when it is maximized you have the default panel along the top (not sure what it is called), then the title bar and then the rest of the window. That is a lot of unused space I have reclaimed with the extension.
So I was wondering what extensions other people use, which ones they like and why they wanted to use it.
Oh, I just found BackSlide, for wallpaper changing! I’ve gotta try that one (I really hate that Gnome and Unity are the only desktops that don’t offer to rotate their backgrounds). Anybody else use this?
Hi
I use OpenWeather and Activities Configurator to set the panel transperancy, change to the hostname instead of Activities and add the openSUSE Distributor icon
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/750/openweather/
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/358/activities-configurator/
I’ve also used the disable TouchPad one in the past…
Activities Configurator looks pretty interesting, and I like how it can add an icon!
I wonder why distributions don’t use something like this to provide “branding”? I used to like seeing screenshots and try to determine which distro is being used (just for fun). I think not having an icon or logo somewhere is a missed marketing opportunity.

Hi
Just copy the distributor.svg file into the extensions directory;
cp /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/distributor.svg ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/activities-config\@nls1729/

Bummer… backslide is not supported in Gnome 3.14 yet.
The extensions page says to work around this just modify the .json file and add “3.14” to the list. I did that and it “works” but I am not able to change the list of wallpapers it is supposed to rotate through.
Insensitive message tray and no topleft hot corner.
I hate those ‘hot’ stuff.
- Is there any extension that allow me to use backspace to return to previous dir?
