For a while I was planning on testing out openSUSE 12.1 KDE for use on the family desktop computer (actually, still am), but the Gnome 3 Online Accounts is very, very tempting! I just wish my current laptop could handle all of Gnome3 and not have to go into fallback mode.
So what feature, or reason, do you look forward to for upgrading/installing openSUSE 12.1?
My biggest limitation is the Intel video on my laptop which means I’ll likely not get Gnome3 to work until I get a newer or better machine.
I like the idea of the Online Accounts and integrated access to Google Docs, Calendar, Contacts and Gmail.
When I started with Linux, I gave myself the goal “Can I do everything I do in Windows, but on Linux?” and that is a success. Now I am looking at the best desktop/cloud integration and this is a significant step towards that end… if it works.
I’m also interested in WebYast. I am thinking if I set up a headless server at home, maybe WebYast could allow me to configure it without having the SSH into it and running Yast2 in ncurses. I already do this with my modem and my router, why not my Linux server as well? So far the best optional I have found is Zentyal, but I am hoping to see what openSUSE can do!

I was looking forward for Btrfs, but since it does not come with a
repair tool it is on my wishlist for the future.
I think perhaps KDE 4.7 then. Otherwise just a newer Suse overall.
Isn’t that already great.

No, I don’t.

If Gnome3 is over-pretentious (Linux Torvalds - not Linus - was
complaining about Gnome3 too, for a different reason), it can be used by
those with pretentious hardware. It’s an annoying restriction to my Intel
card too, but yeah, I’m the one who has to get modernized
I’m probably going to first check out KDE and see how that does. It should work alright without the desktop effects and can become the “fallback” depending on how bad Gnome fallback is.
This time, though, I am looking at getting the DVD at some point because I have to check out KDE for the desktop, Gnome possibly for my laptop an a possible server so it would be easier to put the DVD image on one USB to install them all.
If I get it downloaded in time today I may give it a quick check on my work laptop, which is more modern than my home laptop and likes Linux distros better!

I didn’t have much of an issue with KDE4 and Intel video card. It works
properly. But I don’t know if Gnome3 could stand it :sarcastic:
