In Tumbleweed, if I use the command “zypper up” instead of the correct command “zypper dup” can I compromise my system (security) or corrupt it? Briefly, what can happen?

Your system will not move to the next snapshot and at some point may break (corruption), as explained in documentation, forum posts etc, always a dup to move to the next snapshot release.

You will have an incomplete update.

Doing that occasionally should not be a problem. But if you do that all the time, then problems will begin to accumulate.
