Although the CLP CLE Cert’s from Novell are great , I think LPI would be the way to go.
just my 2 cents

What kind of applications come with Windows 2008 SBS again? What
restrictions? Need to be careful. While I’ll admit that SBS
sound like a good deal, you need to measure the pain if you
should ever need to go beyond 2008. Microsoft makes that process
painful on purpose so that if you believe you’ll grow large
someday (and a lot of businesses like to believe they will),
then they’ll hesitate getting SBS and will go with the
full 2008… which can be quite costly.
YMMV
What you are buying with a subscription is a QA’d product where
fixes are done to fix problems and not merely just security issues.
openSUSE may fix problems too, but you may have to UPGRADE
in order to get those fixes. You’re paying for support with
the enterprise line, part of that support is “true” fixes and
software that is supposed to work. No such guarantees are made
with openSUSE (or anything else besides Red Hat’s and Novell’s
offerings).

RHCE’s difficulty comes in the lab portion. Which I think is
a good idea since you are actually tested on your ability to
do the work rather than merely answer questions. It’s a good thing
that helps end the “paper cert” syndrome.
