What about IMac?

I`m thinking about get the new IMac laptop will it work with Suse 11.x and up wards?:\

Seems like there are not many ‘apples’ in the openSUSE / HCL / Laptops.
You could try checking the individual components for compatability on the HCL as I don’t think macs carry any exotic hardware since they switched to Intel processors.

They can probably be found somewhere on the apple site.

[Edit]:
Some can be found here: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html

You could also try taking a live disc to the apple store? Though I suspect you’ll get some strange looks, ignoring half the reason of why most want a mac (OSX).

Gaah how did I end up at the laptops…
Should read when replying I guess…

Oh well, response doesn’t change much although there is actually a iMac listed on the HCL. Which lists things as working.

If you’re after another model you might want to look at iMac - Technical Specifications - Apple and compare the parts to the hcl.

EDIT:

I`m thinking about get the new IMac **laptop **will it work with Suse 11.x and up wards?

That’s how… :stuck_out_tongue:
Don’t think “IMac Laptops” exist.

iMac = Desktop.
Mac Pro = Desktop.
Macbook = 13" laptop.
Macbook Pro = 15"/17" laptop.
Macbook Air = Ultra light laptop.

What if you got the money to get Macbook which one?

I wouldn’t because the lowend Macbook quality has (in the past) been much lower than the Pro models and if I bought yet another Mac, I would use OSX and not Linux.

I haven’t touched the new basic Macbooks (The glossy display with black borders and the new icky keyboard).

If you’re looking to run Linux on a laptop I would take a look at the alternatives from Dell, HP or Lenovo rather than Macs because they really start to shine when you run the native OS due to tight hardware/software integration.
