Dear all,
I have a problem with my 128 bit Wep keys. I entered them and checked them for two different networks (which i can see in the network list), but it continues asking me the keys. Any clue?
Thanks

Dear all,
The problem is solved. Now how it was solved is a bit tricky. I went to the network controls and switch the classic configuration. I added the keys and had network connection for a short time. Then i saved the config. While doing so the system asked me to install additional software from the installation dvd. After that i did not saw any networks anymore. Rebooting did not change anything. I tried to change a bit the network settings, thinking that i should blame the firewall settings for the situation, but nothing helped. Not knowing better i decided to go for a fresh install. After the install everything worked, even my keys where still there …
Just for information

FYI
WEP is considered a poor choice
Consider WPA
same problem again don’t know what to do. i would like to switch to WAP, but have to reconfigure all my devices, roughly 10 times 2. you believe that it will be more reliable?
Thanks

I was pointing to security rather than reliability. Both work equally well as far as reliability is concerned.
WEP is considered weak and hackable.
WPA on the other hand provides much stronger security.
I don’t have to do any configuring in Yast and Network. I just use knetworkmanager. It’s a walk in the park.
Strange after all. All my other devices work. I have currently removed security as such and filter only on MAC addresses. This works fine.
Nevertheless the network speed remains slow. Any idea about what may help here?
Thanks
