Welcome superegg

A new poster visists the forums for recommendations, specifically on converting kexi to access. He first re-opens an old thread, and

http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/453974-looking-something-like-ms-access-3.html#post2464698

Okay, he starts a new one, so

http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/475533-kexi-2-mdb-anybody.html#post2464714

Don’t do this again? That’s a friendly welcome! :\ I hope this isn’t his lasting impression of the openSUSE community.

I closed the thread and it was due to it being reported from another user on posting the same question twice, having a very cryptic request and for a product not directly supported by openSUSE. He did get link to the correct location and, he can PM me if there is a problem.

Thank You,

Not supported? I’m not sure exactly what you mean, not supported as in not in the official packages? This hasn’t been a criterion in the past, is it a new rule?

Sorry chief if this has you upset. Another user here viewed the issue differently but in any event, it will be up the actual user if they have complaint. It is hard to make everyone happy that is for sure and Yes, its not in the openSUSE repositories and so support would best be obtained from another web site. There can be exceptions, such as using VM’s like VirtualBox were forum moderators take an interest in the subject and try to help, but in this case there was more than one issue cited. But, may I say, that I shall attempt to handle such an issue in a better manner in the future and I am very sorry if any of my actions has upset you tonight, it was not my intention.

Thank You,

Jim, you do a great job here and I appreciate it. I just thought that in this case, at least from what I can see, somebody seemed to get the short shrift. I’m not familiar with Kexi, but from the thousands of people that read these forums I’m sure somebody knows a little bit and might have a suggestion for superegg.

That’s possible, but a suggestion to try at the Kexi forums isn’t
misplaced, either. I think James is just trying to give superegg the
best possible option for an answer.

I’ve redirected questions about specific programs to those programs’
forums as well.

Jim

He actually posted on three threads, two old, one new:

Re: Looking for
something like MS Access
(supergg)

(here he was told to start a new one)

Re: Kexi -
Import Access Database
(supergg)

kexi 2 mdb?
anybody?
(supergg)

I’d rather think that the last one was the appropriate place, not the first
two - which should not be closed either because they are different things.
I don’t know whether the posts he made can be moved to a single thread instead?

On the other hand, kexi packages are included in some KDE repos.
