Weird little problem with KMix - Event Sounds

Hi,
well the title pretty much summarizes the problem. I cannot change the volume for Event Sounds - it is set to max. Also, when I give as root kmix

root@pascaLinux:/home/pascal #kmix
unnamed app(3970): KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server: "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

unnamed app(3969): KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly.

root@pascaLinux:/home/pascal #

It has happened to me a couple of months ago. The version is 3.9.

Thanks in advance.

The volume of notification sounds is set elsewhere: Configure Desktop - Notifications - Player settings. I muted the player, works fine.

I muted the player in too and still got the login sound played at max when I logged in again. I clearly remember being able to control the Event Sounds from KMix…

Never mind. It seems that in my configuration the only way to control Event Sounds is through the master volume, i.e. the internal audio analog stereo channel.

I can use pavucontrol to control it independently through Playback > System Sounds.
