Weird character (artifact?) in the blinking cursor when being prompt to enter root password

As the title says, there’s a little artifact in the blinking cursor in KDE-su password window. It’s not the first time I’ve encountered this, and it has always happened after a KDE update. Is not related to which font is being used, since I’ve already tried to change with the same result. Three different systems are affected (all latest TUMBLEWEED).

Here’s a screen capture:

What could be?
Thanks in advance.

Since I don’t see this on two Tw machines: How do you update Tw? If not through

zypper dup

then run that command. It’s the only supported way to upgrade Tw.

If not, it might be a bug in the language file.

I’ve always updated TW using -dup.

That’s also my thought. Where should I look up for? openSUSE Bugzilla?

Good one. I’d create a bugreport there first, against Tw, but it might be bugs.kde.org is a better place, since openSUSE’s Tw packages are mostly 100% upstream

You could also try if it is also the case using a different language

LANG=C kdesu yast2

Already tried. Still the same.

Ok, here’s openSUSE bugzilla report:
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108322

If required, I’ll open another against upstream.
Thanks!

Ok, it seems it was a Qt bug, which has already been fixed in 5.11.2. Everything is fine now.
Cheers.
