Hi all,
I have pretty much given up on my VX 3000 because not only the microphone doesn’t work but also Skype crashes when I actually want to use it. The video only works in the settings/test video view but not for a video call.
So: can anybody recommend a webcam with a microphone that works reliably on Suse 11.X and with Skype? I’m currently using Suse 11.2 but might upgrade to Suse 11.3, so it would be nice if the webcam would still work in 11.3… Maybe this is asking too much.

I’ve got two I have used with Skype on 11.2 - a cheap Logitech Quickcam
Chat and a newer Clique HUE webcam (which includes a mic). Both work
using the LD_PRELOAD trick with the v4lcompat library, with the Clique,
the microphone works, but getting the drivers installed took a little
extra effort because the default drivers in the kernel didn’t work
properly.

Thanks for this. Do you think the Hue cams work pretty well because they are UVC compatible? I found this page with a long list of UVC compatible webcams that are supposed to work “out of the box”.
