Webcam always on?

I’m trying to minimize power consumption on a Samsung NC10 netbook, so I’m trying to figure out how I can check whether the built in webcam is constantly on. I am running openSUSE 11.2, and it seems like I am getting shorter runtimes than I did with W!ndow$ XP. Does anyone know where I can check the status of this device?

Also, is there any way to make sure that bluetooth only runs when accessed by an application? I have currently set it to not start up in Yast sysconfig editor.
