This occurs on 15.1, 15.2, and Tumbleweed.
Desktop - Mate
In MATE the clock has a weather options.
For about a week - no updates - on 15.2 and Tumbleweed - after rebooting for the new kernel - just empty space where the weather should be.
Is anyone else seeing this problem?
Is it only in MATE?
I found on gethub that the weather servers were being upgraded from Redhat 6 to Redhat 7 - the were supposed to be back Sunday.
Latest is that it might be down until Saturday and the server names may change and any weather applet might have to be patched to point to the new weather servers.

The latest is that the work to be done on the servers scheduled for today has been postponed until at least Wednesday thanks to Tropical Storm Cristobal. I have also learned that there is more work scheduled for Friday that might force us to go to backup again. Argh!
I made a request to go back to production this morning but management seems to want to stay on the backup. I wish I had better news.
Aha!!! … The “Internet” – about 4 % of the global CO[SUB]2[/SUB] emissions – about 2 % of this planet’s energy consumption …
It works if, and only if, the servers are up and running and, the routers of each and every Internet Service Provider (ISP) are up and running and, the underlying transmission networks which are the property of the international Telecommunications businesses are up and running …
They published a fix to allow the weather to show again in the MATE clock or weather app.
Cut and paste this in the root window it is all one long line:
sudo sed -i ‘s|https://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/dataserver_current/httpparam|https://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/dataserver1_3/httpparam\x0\x0\x0\x0\x0|’ /usr/lib64/libmateweather.so.1
