Wayland not detected in yast?

Hi. First time posting in a forum like this so i apologize for any mistakes

I want to set wayland as my default window manager on startup but it seems that it is not detected in yast? I was able to do it back in Leap but now I can’t do it when i upgraded to tumbleweed. I’d rather not manually change it from x11 to wayland every startup

My system info:
OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed x86_64
Host: Inspiron 13 5330
DE: Plasma 6.3.4 [KF 6.13.0] [Qt 6.9.0] (wayland)
CPU: Intel Ultra 7 155H (22) @ 4.500GHz
GPU: Intel Arc Graphics]

If you change it once, the setting sticks. Unless you have changed the default behaviour…

what i meant by manually changing every startup is having to log out of the current session to change from x11 to plasma. sorry for the confusion.

i forgot to mention in the original post that the method of changing the default wm in the startup and shutdown behavior if its in kde no longer works because that menu is gone

You need to disable autologin. Restart your machine. Set Wayland at the login screen. Restart and check that it persists. Enable autologin again.

The menu is still there and fully functional. Maybe you provide a screenshot so that we can see what you don’t see. SDDM and GDM still show the proper menu.

that part in the system settings in kde 6.3 is gone

If you look for sddm and click on sddm login screen (or something like that) click on that option and in the next step click on behaviour on the top left. There you can set your login

Okay that actually worked. Thanks!

Than your system (user setting) is broken. This setting is still available in the latest KDE Plasma 6 systemsettings from the latest Tumbleweed snapshot. Create a fresh user and test again.

Are you sure about this, because I know no better then to go the “sddm route” and that works for me in Tumbleweed and in Endeavour OS (arch based).
