installed WasIstLos, any ideas on how to start a chat with one of my contacts? I’ve looked and cannot find how to do this.
Not the answer to your question, but in case you are not able to make WasIstLos work - I suggest you use WhatsApp on web. https://web.whatsapp.com/, you might want to have it as a Progressive Web App even, for convenience.
Although I should let you know that I am using Tumbleweed, not Leap - if that matters.
That always matters for native packages, not on flatpaks or snaps. Though … snaps are not supported. AFAIK the issue is mainly because snaps expect apparmor and openSUSE’s default LSM these days is selinux.
I meant for using a service on a browser application. A service like WhatsApp should work on the browser in case the browser itself doesn’t have permission incompatibilities, right?
Reply above is to OP.
That is correct ![]()

Personally, I’d prefer the web-version, when using my desktop or laptop.
For example, I use the Google Messages app on my phone. Guess what (?)
I can use Google Messages on my laptop and desktop, using a browser … oddly enough, it’s called “Google Messages for Web”. It synchronizes with my phone.
Similar to the capability WhatsApp provides. Go to their website (as provided by @Cat-tail_48), scan the QR Code (phone) to synchronize with the browser.
Edit: and I just checked the WhatsApp web login and you can also login using your phone number (vs synch with physical phone … which Google Messages offers).
