was unable to download ISO

A day or two ago, I was unable to download the openSuSE DVD ISO from any of the links on the main site ( Software.openSUSE.org ). It always said something like invalid HTTP header. Checking different locations of the world for downloads showed very small DVD ISOs (~400M instead of ~4.7G). I managed to get it through a torrent, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Maybe I missed some vital piece of information to be able to download?

By the way, I really like openSuSE. Very good stuff

Maybe the servers might be too busy. On the download sites you must be able to find some mirror sites. If the download speed is abyssmally slow, download may be aborted or truncated leaving you with useless scrap bytes.

Do you also face this issue on other sites or downloads?

Maybe you will have to clean your browser’s cache. I frequently empty those temporary bits 'n bytes and I’ve never faced such a nasty error like you have faced.

I always use FireFox and sometimes I use Konqueror the 3.5 version.

Warning: if you download the DVD under Windows using MSIE, you cannot download greater files than 2 or 4 GB due to a bug.

Then I guess it was because of Windows Vista and MSIE. It was on another computer where I was gonna burn the ISO.

CD ver DVD ISO download of openSUSE 11.0?
What’s the better way to go?

I downloaded the CD ISO ~644MB, ran it as live CD then installed it in my PC. It seems OK.

What did I miss/lose by doing it this way instead of downloading the DVD ISO?

Nothing, if you have a good Internet connection.

DVD contains more stuff, but nothing you couldn’t get from the network repos anyway.

DVD is also not live, which might make it slightly easier to install on some hardware configurations as you do not have to get the live CD displaying first. For example if you only wanted a text install for a server, then getting the GUI up in the live CD is unnecessary.

Thanks kinda figured that but wasn’t sure.
I have a good internet connection but figured a smaller DL is a better bet for less errors than a larger DL. Plus I wanted the Live CD capability.
