warning when doing a system update

Hi I am using the following command to do a update

  sudo zypper refresh
  sudo zypper dup -yl --auto-agree-with-product-licenses

But it seems there is something miss configured with the packman repositories? I am seeing this message:

Problem: problem with the installed pipewire-media-session-0.3.38-3.5.x86_64
Solution 1: install pipewire-media-session-0.3.38-2.1.x86_64 from vendor openSUSE
replacing pipewire-media-session-0.3.38-3.5.x86_64 from vendor http://packman.links2linux.de
Solution 2: keep obsolete pipewire-media-session-0.3.38-3.5.x86_64

**Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/c/d/?] (c): **c

I selected Option 1 and now have no sound. How can I fix this? Thanks for any help.

Checking, I see that “pipewire-media-session” is no longer in the packman repo. That’s why you are getting this.

As to why it isn’t there – I don’t know. Perhaps it is failing to build. Or perhaps it isn’t needed anymore.

@nrickert thanks, I went with #1 and now I don’t see this message anymore. I also figured out how to check the pacman repo for the file following you reply

My sound is working, fine. Check your audio settings and make sure playback is set to the right device.

I selected also option 1 and thereafter when logged in I received after 1 to 3 minutes, a warning and screens turned black with only my mouse pointer. I did then a reinstall of all pipewire modules selecting the version of OSS in place of packman. Now all is working correctly

Worked for me. Sound is back. Thank you.

Hi there. Complete noob here. How do you select option 1? Seems my terminal is auto inputting “c” for cancel. Thanks in advance.

I used YaST fot the selection of the version: Open online update and use top tab “Search” to find all “pipewire” packages. select one of the installed packages and open the tab “Versions” below and select therein the OSS version in place of the packman version.

See SUSE Paste

Philippe

Welcome to the openSUSE forums

“c” is the default if you press “return” – You need to simply press “1” (or whatever numeric option you choose) instead.
