I’ve installed openSUSE 12.1 on my machine using the live KDE CD. Now I’d like to install GNOME 3 as an alternative desktop. What packages do I have to select in YAST to complete the install?
Yes I’ve heard that a lot of people don’t like GNOME 3, but I would still like to give it a try.
Yast>Software Management> under view pick Pattern, then choose Gnome Desktop Environment and Gnome Base. That all! Then when you login choose the desktop you want to login. Remember you has to disable auto-login.
how do you disable auto login?
Yast-etc/sysconfig editer - Desktop-Display Manager - autologin
Put a blank
