I have just installed opensuse 11.2 and am using the gnome desktop environment. I just can’t get it to change wallpapers. I select a wallpaper in the list, and nothing happens. I download a wallpaper and add it to the backgrounds. select it. nothing happens. I don’t particularly like the default wallpaper and I hate to abandon the whole OS just because of this, but it’s irritating. Any help would be appreciated.
I have had 11.2 (GNOME) installed for several month and I have changed the wallpaper many, many time before. However, a few days ago I went to change my wallpaper as I do every few weeks or so and it wont change! I am stuck with the same image set as my desktop background and I desperately want to change it at this point. I don’t want to reinstall for something as silly as this. PLEASE HELP!!!

Worse case you could over lay the current /usr/share/wallpaper/ with a
new photo.
Acá está la respuesta a su pregunta, tiene que primero:
abrir #gconf-editor a través de consola
en file abrir new mandatory window
unset todas las cosas que aparezcan con el botón derecho
luego #su -l #nautilus (abre nautilus super usario)
mostrar archivos ocultos en menu ver
abrir home y luego tu carpeta personal
borrar carpeta .gnome2 y .gconf (puedes cambiarles el nombre mejor)
reiniciar
