Now I have installed 11.2 (also 64 Bit); unfortunately, the procedure requires modifying /etc/x11/xorg.conf. But 11.2 doesn’t have this file, because from my understanding X11 on 11.2 is configured automatically and doesn’t need the file.
But “sax2” worked and even detected the tablet - although it didn’t offer the right type.
The tablet then worked right from the start - but so far the “pressure” isn’t detected in gimp and I didn’t tried a reboot to see if I run into problems than.
I will check and report.
Thanks for the hint
Martin
P.S.:
Do I now have any drawbacks compared to the automatic detection on start ?
(Ok, I surely will have, if I e.g. swap the graphics card - but anything else in day to day use ?)
There are changes in the version of Xorg in 11.2 that the folks who write
the linuxwacom drivers are updating to support - I’ve got an Intuos4
myself, and am waiting to hear that they’ve updated the driver to support
the newer version of Xorg. I understand it’s nearly completed, but not
quite there yet (it’s been a couple of days since I checked, though).
This is a known issue - suspend/resume is treated as a hotplug event, and
the Wacom drivers don’t support hotplug yet. You’ll have to restart X
after the resume to get it picked up again.
Would you, Jim, or anyone else know if linuxwacom has been updated and fixed for the xorg version in 11.2? I have a HP tx2000z tablet (64bit) and my overall problem is the stylus cursor is offset with the pen, and the system cursor is offset the the icon displayed for cursor for the pen. sounds convoluted, confusing description…I tried compiling and installing the latest build but I think I don’t know enough about the situation to make it work…anyways any news?

My tablet calibration becomes corrupted everytime I use s2ram (and I use it very frequently, in fact I sometimes I reboot my laptop once in a week or when I test some new drivers/kernel).
