Wacom stylus mapped "upside-down"

I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet that was working fine until I ran out of space on the root drive. In clearing space I deleted what appeared to be deprecated drivers for several things - including the Wacom tablet. When I tried to re-install the drivers - they don’t seem to available on the official OpenSuse site. So I downloaded some “unsupported” drivers which, mostly, work fine though the kernel module shows as red (deprecated) in Yast.

However… The pen tip is mapped to the eraser end of the stylus. Yesterday it remapped to the correct direction, today it’s upside down again.

Wacom-kpm-desktop 0.21.0_k3.7.10_1.32-3.2
kcm_wacomtablet 2.0-2.3
kcm_wacomtablet-lang 2.0-2.3
libwacom-data 0.6.1-2.1.1
libwacom-tools 0.6.1-2.1.1
libwacom2 0.6.1-2.1.1
xf86-input-wacom 0.24.0-2.1

I’m running OpenSuse 12.3, 64-bit

any help would be appreciated

apparently - if you install “unsupported” software you need to stay subscribed to the repository & have it refresh automatically or the OS doesn’t know what the software is

True but in general you need to be careful what repos you refresh from. Some may have packages that could break your setup. If you install outside the normal repos you need to manually check for newer stuff periodically rather then rely on the update flag. You don’t want to pull in stuff that may break your system.

it would have been helpful if I’d remembered the version number of what I deleted or which particular files I deleted.
it would be helpful if older drivers remained available on the supported sites (I’m only one version from current on the OS).

getting the tablet to work (& stay working) with Linux has been an on-going battle. right now, once again, it’s mapped upside down.
