Wacom BambooFun - openSuSE 11.1 on PPC

Okay, so I reacently switched from an old PC running Xubuntu to an iMac with a PowerPC processor, bringing my Wacom BambooFun with me. The tablet has been working (after a lot of fighting with xorg.conf and so on…) in Xubuntu, with presure sensitivity and all, and it also worked in Mac OSX, but then, I installed openSuSE and now, it’s just… gone.

I’ve tried basiclly everything by now, starting with following the Wacom USB tablet HOWTO continuing with all the tips other people have given at this forum. I also tried following the Linux Wacom Project HOWTO, but got an error since I’m running PPC (or so it seemed). I tried setting the tablet up both in SaX2 and in the xorg.conf file, but it wont even work as a mouse!

What am I doing wrong? Is it the PPC that’s screwing it up for me or have I made some sort of obvious mistake? Does the tablet just hold a personal grudge against me? If someone could tip me of at something, I’d be eternally grateful.

Uh… edit on my erlier post; I realized that if I plug the tablet out, and then plug it in again, I can make it work as a mouse… I also get it moving without touching the board if I follow the Wacom USB HOWTO… eccept WHEN I touch the board… the pointer just stops. Won’t click, won’t move, won’t do anything… No one seems to have experienced this anywhere… But maybe someone knows why this happens? Or at least, someone might have the same problem, and wont feel so lonely out there now… I’ll update again if I find the solution (spamming my own thread, yoho!)

shock fact: there are very few “experts” on any one topic in a forum:

for Wacom: Niels_Olsen offers the most authorative views and advice:

search on his username in the OpenSuse forums but see here for example:

For what it’s worth here’s what worked for me. Open sax2 and select the
tablet icon. Configure the tablet as a graphire tablet. There is a second
screen which allows you to enable the pen, mouse and tablet. That not only
worked in 11.1 but also allowed me to use the tablet in VirtualBox for the
first time since 10.3.

Good luck,
