Does anyone know how i can configure my wacom bamboo fun tablet.
Zoom is not working.
There is an openSUSE wiki for Wacom tablets here:
Wacom USB tablet howto - openSUSE
… for users with Tablet PCs, there is a wiki here:
TabletPCs - openSUSE
This morning I searched for, but could not find, an entry for tablets in the openSUSE HCL (Hardware Compatibility List). So I created a table in the HCL wiki under gadgets: HCL/Gadgets - openSUSE
A couple of years ago my wife purchased a tablet ( Megawin LaPazz ) to use with the WinXP Operating System (she is NOT a Linux fan). Last night, for fun, I decided to check if her table was “Wacom compatible” and if it would work under openSUSE-11.1. I learned it is not “Wacom compatible”, and the most I could do was access the table memory via drag and drop from openSUSE-11.1. I made a note about her tablet in the HCL.
If you succeed re: your tablet, please update the HCL.
It is not that simple , should be configured with wacomcpl
but then I get devices mouse 3 ( stands for Tablet) , mouse 5 (pen) and mouse 7 (eraser).
see etc/X11/xorg.conf
There is no option in those devices to let the zoom function from the tablet work.
please openSUSE make this better for all “wacom” tablet users this is not user friendly.
Do we still have to do this Give X a static pointer using a udev rule, because there is no map 10-local.rules
The guide notes that the file may not exist, and states to create the file if it is not present.
sorry posted it to soon.
the wacom pen is working fine but the functions form the tablet itself like the circle zoom. Can not figure out how to get this work, wacomcpl
Sorry that I can’t help … as I have no tablet experience (other than the mostly unsuccessful effort with my wife’s non-compatibible (with Linux) tablet).
I did put a place entry in the openSUSE HCL for your tablet (wacom bamboo fun) that I hope you can finish populating once you sort this: HCL/Gadgets - openSUSE
Thanks , only the buttons on the wacom bamboo tablet are not working.
Which openSUSE version were you using?
OpenSUSE 11.1 ( 64 bits) with KDE 4.3
This is the tablet :

Hi ; welcome to the OpenSuse forums; much of the strength of linux is the communities of volunteers who help out on forums; and writing drivers and all sorts of things;
some folks feel "the government must fix … " and that “the government should do …” and that “OpenSuse should do …”; but hopefully you downloaded your version of OpenSuse for nothing; (or did you make a voluntary donation?)
Linux is a bit like learning how to do some things on your car: change the spark plugs; change the oil; change the tyres …
When you bolt on a wacom tablet, there is some interesting learning to do; and you learn what it demands of the system; and a little of how your system works;
you will be AGHAST to hear that no-one on this forum is a regular EXPERT on wacom tablets;
if you check at the bottom of the link oldcpu gave you:
Wacom USB tablet howto - openSUSE
you will see the name
Niels Olsen
with a link to him; you can see too he now has a day job, as surgical intern;
he contributed to several threads last year on wacom tablets; he felt he had it sorted; hence his name on the website;
if you go here
Nabble - Linux Wacom Tablet Project forum
this is a specialist forum for WACOM TABLETS on all varieties and flavours of LINUX; so hopefully some gurus there can help you;
if you get it sorted, please come back to this forum with the answers; a good posting here will be a base for others following in your wake;
if you get it sorted, you can become the resident guru on wacom tablets for this forum, as niels olsen is off working in ER now.
I am a customer and bought SuSE 8 , 9 and 10 not 11.1.
The only difference was you get a book with it.
I know about Wacom USB tablet howto - openSUSE but it is much simplier just connect the wacom bamboo tablet install wacom-kpm-default with Yast -software
go to hardware - graphic card / monitor and choose tablet - activate- wacom - graphire v1-4 (USB) and save.
Restart the computer and it is working great.
settings can make with alt+f2 and then type wacomcpl
Option tablet is still not seperated under hardware options.
You can finetune etc/X11/xorg.conf as described in
Wacom USB tablet howto - openSUSE
or http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/inputdev
“pad” is not working for me so the buttons and the circle wheel to zoomin are not working.
That is my problem.
well done for being an earlier customer of Novell/Suse; you are one of a very exclusive minority; you are to be praised for that;
it is very important to you to get your wacom working;
I can only suggest again you subscribe to the wacom forum on nabble: I have subscribed (temporarily) to a number of specialist forums, and find them very helpful;
good luck; only niels olsen on this forum felt he could fix wacoms;
let us know how you get along
I am very happy with openSUSE put please do not overreact.
I also found this link : Gnome Graphics Tablet Apps maybe it is usefull for someone.
A graphical configuration tool named “wacom-config” is still under development .
