voice stutters on Skype

Hi,

I have a laptop Toshiba A60 which had been installed OPENSUSE 11.3, KDE as desktop. I want to use Skype with this laptop. I downloaded Skype from skype’s website. The microphone seems OK, but the voice is just like a stutter. The voice does not continue. It is not like echo.

alsamixer shows Card: ATI IXP
Chip: Realteck ALC250 rev 2

YaST/Sound Configuration shows:
index:0 Card Model: IXP150 AC’97 Audio Conntroller

. Configured as sound card number 0
. Driver snd-atiixp

Press Edit shows:
AC’97 codec clock (default 48000Hz). Option: ac97_clock
AC’97 workaround for strange hardware Option: ac97_quirk
S/PDIF over AC-link Option: spdif_aclink

Could you help me on this? Thanks in advance

suggest you instal using these instructions:

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Skype

usually, folks using those instructions have smooth use of Skype…

and, i sure wouldn’t recommend you go into the sound system and try
changing everything you can!! (on the other hand lots of folks with a
Toshiba laptop have troubles…check the hardware compatibility lists)
