go halfway down the page on this link

PHARscape | NetworkManager 0.7.0 and 3G WWAN Modems How-To

to

“Create a mobile broadband connection”;

that shows you what happens in Ubuntu;

for OpenSuse: similarly RIGHT-CLICK on network manager:

(two TV screens at bottom right);

select third along: Create mobile broadband connection;

I think it will say CDMA or GSM?

so select GSM for Vodafone:

enter your country; select the vodafone network for the country you live in;

accept; close that dialogue box;

NOW: LEFT-CLICK on network manager;

the option you have just entered should be there if your modem is plugged in;

click to connect; you should be on-line in about 3 seconds

I have found the E220 an excellent modem;

Good morning my friends of forum

I don’t have de 2 tv in bottom.
I think i use kde and not gnome.

Help me

What do i do

Thanks

You can try to run it with the Modem tool in Yast (yast → network devices → modem).

Install ppp, udev, smpppd, wvdial, Kinternet.

Switch it on and off with Kinternet. Set daemon smpppd to “on” (in yast → system → runlevels → smpppd).

Pictures of the method with my broadband wireless using my mobile phone as the modem are here: Wireless HSDPA broadband in Suse/openSUSE Using Nokia 6120 Mobile Phone as Modem on Three Mobile Australia
Works for my mobile phone modem – maybe it works for your mobile 3g

BTW it also works for my Bigpond HSDPA 3g usb modem with a tweak or two, here: Wireless broadband in Suse/openSUSE for Bigpond Next G Network (HSDPA-enabled bp3-usb)

I have a pen for internet who call vodafone mobile 3g e220 but i want work with that pen in linux opensuse 11.2

If you are running KDE4, before trying what swerdna has suggested, try the KNetworkManager (KNM). It must be in the system tray. Just plug in the modem and wait for 10-15 seconds so that KNM will bring it up. You have to click on the KNM system tray icon to see a “mobile phone connection” icon. Set it up by clicking on it.
If this doesn’t work, you can try what swendra has suggested but it is more complicated than this.
