VNC to remote DVD writter - remote permissions problem

Maybe an old topic…

I have a DVD writer in my headless OpenSuse 10.3 box. I can connect using TightVNC (native and through an SSH tunnel) from my win XP box to the 10.3 box, but am unable to use the DVD writer - K3B states I don’t have permission.
But - if I remote log in as “root” I can use the DVD writer.

If i log on to the 10.3 box locally (“user”) I can use the writer normally.

What is blocking me using the writer remotely as user?
“user” is a member of ‘disk’ & ‘cdrom’

Thanks

No one else runs VNC to a headless system? OR is it that my system has an issue?

Thanks…
