Accessing a Linux box via VNC is typically really easy. You can enable
‘Remote Administration’ in Yast via multiple sessions or you can enable
control of the actual desktop too if needed though I haven’t done that for
a long time. It has come up several times either in here or in the
‘Applications’ sibling to this forum.

Good luck.

There are two ways to access and control a Linux machine easily from XP. One is vnc as mentioned. There are problems with vnc in openSUSE 11.0 and 11.1. The bugs ahven’t been fixed but the workarounds have been sorted and it works OK. I’ve written them up here:
TightVNC (VNC Xvnc) on openSUSE as Client or Server (Remote Desktop Connections)

I’ve found that the Open Source verion of RDP when installed on the openSUSE box will work very well with the windows RDP Remote Desktop client too. IMHO RDP from windows to a Linux XRDP server for remote control of the Linux box is better that using VNC, at least for openSUSE 11.0, 11.1. I’ve written up how to use (X)RDP here:
Windows Linux RDP Remote Desktop Connections using openSUSE as Client or Server (terminal server)
